Dear HES Families,
It's hard to believe, but it is already June. Even though we are down to the last few weeks, there is still a lot of learning to do! Last week our PreK students had the opportunity to spend the day at Davis Farmland. They enjoyed a range of activities and visits with the animals. Thank you to PreK teachers Lauren Campanello and Meghan Lowe for planning this fun and educational opportunity, all the adults who accompanied our students, including Officer Fawn, and to Harvard Schools Trust for the grant that made this possible.

Our end of year benchmark screening is underway. Students are being assessed for the third and final time this year using the mClass DIBELS (literacy) and math screeners. If you have any questions, please contact your child's classroom teacher or literacy specialist/coach Kerry Cusick.
Have a great week!

School Announcements

Library Class Visits to the HPL
Starting tomorrow June 4, students will be visiting the Harvard Public Library (HPL) to learn about their Summer Reading Program from the children's librarian, Ms. Abby Kingsbury. We will be visiting the HPL during library-technology classes on June 4-June 10. Rain dates are set for June 11 to June 17. Information about the Summer Reading Program and a calendar of library activities will be sent home with each student when the visits to the HPL are completed.
HES Library Books
With the end of the school year approaching, library book checkouts have ended. As of June 2, we have 257 books checked out. Print paper notices with images of the books checked out will be sent home with students this week. Please have students look for any books they have borrowed and return them to the HES Library by June 11.
There are no fines for overdue books. Book replacement fees are assessed if books are lost or damaged beyond repair. If a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, please send in a replacement book or pay the amount listed on the paper notice (check payable to HES with note in the memo line "Library Book"). If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Q: mquaadgras@psharvard.org.
Nurse Amanda would like to remind families to put on sunscreen and bug spray at home before school. Staff cannot apply these to students during the school day without a doctor's order. Thank you!

Help protect Harvard’s Wood Turtles, which are listed as a Species of Special Concern. If you spot one, take a clear photo from a distance and report it through MassWildlife’s Heritage Hub. Your sightings help biologists track populations and protect local habitat. Fun fact: Wood Turtles gently stomp their feet to mimic rain, tricking earthworms into coming to the surface. Please remember: it’s illegal to possess a Wood Turtle, so admire and let it continue on its way.
Registration for Monty Tech's 2026 Summer Camp is now live! We have streamlined the registration process so families will complete the registration, payment and medical form all online at one time. Click HERE to learn more and register.
