Dear HES Families,
It is Staff Appreciation Week! While we all appreciate the amazing people who work here at HES every day, it is nice to shower them with additional food, coffee, and kindness this week. Thank you to the PTO for all the treats! Click HERE to support the PTO's work to stock the teachers' room with kcups and snacks!
We encourage families and/or students to write or draw a notes of appreciation for staff members. HERE are some printable templates for students of different ages. Feel free to give notes and drawings directly to staff members or leave them in the front office to be distributed.
Last Friday our 3rd-5th graders enjoyed a fabulous presentation from Caldecott and National Book Award-winning author Dan Santat. He shared his writing and illustration processes and tools, delighted everyone with his sense of humor, and gave us a sneak peek at his new book, which will be published in September. A huge thank you to the Silver Unicorn Bookstore and Literacy Coach Kerry Cusick for organizing this amazing opportunity. Here are some pictures:
Mr. Santat showed us how he takes his ideas and brings them to life in words and pictures!
Signing books for our students!
Mr. Santat was thrilled to see that a book he illustrated, Don't Trust Fish, won our March Madness competition!
Have a great week!

Annual School Supply Sale – New Program Lead needed!
The PTO is looking for a HES parent/guardian to lead the annual School Supply sale. They will train this spring with the current lead for this program, which provides convenience to families while generating funds to provide a full set of school supplies to HES students in need as well as additional supplies for Specials classrooms. It’s a relatively small time commitment to provide a big impact. Anyone interested please email info@harvardpto.org.
