Dear HES Families,
It is hard to believe that May is in just a few days! We have a lot of exciting events coming up in May such as the District Arts Night on May 15 and Field Day on May 22. But first, we get to celebrate all the fabulous educators here at HES during Educator Appreciation Week next week! Along with the PTO, we have planned some fun and delicious ways to appreciate all our educators. One of the most impactful ways to show your appreciation is to write or draw a note to an educator. HERE are some printable templates for students of different ages. Feel free to give notes and drawings directly to educators or put them in a box in our front lobby. In addition, click HERE to support the PTO's work to stock the teachers' room with kcups and snacks!
Before vacation we held our April school meeting. First we played our very popular get-to-know-you game. Did you know that Mrs. Ambrosino used to be a cheerleader or that Ms. Morris has been to 18 countries? After our movement break we learned about four steps to peacefully resolve conflict:
1. Listen Carefully: Find out why someone is upset. 2. Share Ideas: Talk and listen without interrupting. 3. Use Kind Words: Use kind, calm words even if you are upset. 4. Find a Fair Solution: Work together to find a solution that works for everyone.
Thank you to our teacher volunteers who took to the stage to act out short skits to help notice these four steps in real life situations!
Have a great week!

Dear Families,
Thank you for your support of Cradles to Crayons. The weather has been so stormy this year. In the winter, it's so cold and everyone needs to be safe. In this community, we are taking care of each other when we find clothes to donate. Cradles to Crayons helps a lot of families, and it is such a good program. It really helps with clothes in all four seasons.
John Lewis stated, “To every young person, if you come together with a mission, and it's grounded with love and a sense of community, you can make the impossible possible.” Every little thing can make every hard thing easier. It can make the impossible possible. Similarly, Malala Yousafzai writes, ”You will never know who stands with you, if you don't stand up first.” Sometimes we have to push ourselves. That push can make the impossible possible. Thank you for your support of Cradles to Crayons.
Sincerely,
Project 351 Club and Bromfield Class of 2030

Annual School Supply Sale – New Program Lead needed!
The PTO is looking for a HES parent/guardian to lead the annual School Supply sale. They will train this spring with the current lead for this program, which provides convenience to families while generating funds to provide a full set of school supplies to HES students in need as well as additional supplies for Specials classrooms. It’s a relatively small time commitment to provide a big impact. Anyone interested please email info@harvardpto.org by April 1st.
Teacher Appreciation Looking for a way to say "thank you" to the amazing teachers and staff at Hildreth? Stock the teachers' room with KCups and snacks. Interested in supporting future events? Join the PTO!
