Dear HES Families,

We enjoyed seeing families in the building and on zoom for our first day parent/caregiver conferences today. Conferences continue next Wednesday afternoon. If you are bringing your child/ren with you, we will have some quiet activities near the front office to grab on your way in. Students are welcome to sit outside the classroom while you are meeting with their teacher(s). Our specialists in music, art, PE, health, and library/technology will be in their classrooms and welcome you to drop in. To set up a scheduled conference with a specialist, either in person or on zoom, please email them directly.

We have only a few copies left! Place your orders for Sashimi, Dan Santat's new graphic novel. Dan Santat will be presenting to students in grades 3-5 on May 1, and will sign books! To order a copy, please send a check to school with your child  for $8.99 payable to Hildreth Elementary School. Books will be distributed to students on May 1.

We are down to the final four of our March Book Madness competition!  Dog vs. Strawberry is taking on Aggie and the Ghost and All at Once Upon a Time goes up against Don't Trust Fish!

Have a great week!

School Announcements

In the coming weeks we will start working on class placements for next year. This process involves many steps, as we recognize the importance of building a team of learners in every classroom. We take into account a variety of factors, such as academics, social/emotional needs, gender, existing relationships, and teacher observations. We also take into account parent/caregiver input. If you would like to provide information to help us make placement decisions, please complete this form. Please do not request specific teachers or students for your child. Due to the complexity of meeting all students' needs, we can not honor these requests. Please complete the form by April 17 so we have time to review and use this information. Thank you!

Our Lost and Found is full of winter gear, water bottles, and more! Please encourage your child to check the lost and found. We will also have it on display for parent/guardian conferences over the next two weeks. We plan to donate the items in the Lost and Found over April break.

Annual School Supply Sale – New Program Lead needed!

The PTO is looking for a HES parent/guardian to lead the annual School Supply sale. They will train this spring with the current lead for this program, which provides convenience to families while generating funds to provide a full set of school supplies to HES students in need as well as additional supplies for Specials classrooms. It’s a relatively small time commitment to provide a big impact. Anyone interested please email info@harvardpto.org by April 1st.
