Dear HES Families,
This week we had the opportunity to visit several morning meetings and community circles in classrooms. All students start their day with a morning meeting as a calm and predictable way to begin the day, engage in relationship-building activities, and learn social emotional skills. Students also participate in circles, sometimes as a whole class to problem-solve, and sometimes with smaller groups of students, to address harm and rebuild trust. These structures support our school's focus on Restorative Practices, a framework that focuses on building relationships, belonging, and safety for all members of our community.
If you are interested in learning more about Restorative Practices, HERE is the handout we provided at Curriculum Night. Many of our teachers and administrators have also recently participated in workshops with a local organization called Pathways to Restorative Communities. They provide both school and parent learning opportunities.
This morning we delivered our second Kindness Quilt to the Council on Aging. Thank you to Emily Fournier, Liz Bala, and Claudia Owens for coordinating this school-wide project!

Have a great week!
