Dear HES Families,

This Friday, October 31, we will have a Fall Spirit Day! Students are welcome (but not required) to come to school in costumes, fall colors, or HES-wear. To keep everyone safe, please do not send students with costume masks, weapons, or long capes.

We were thrilled to host last Friday’s Community Coffee in our cafeteria. Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring the delicious treats! The district and PTO will offer another Community Coffee later in the year, this time at TBS.

Have a great week!

School Announcements

Our November school meeting will focus on Veterans Day and honoring our Veterans.
  • We would like to invite parents/relatives of our students and members of our community who have served in the Armed Forces to join us at 9:30 am on Friday, November 7. Please wear or bring your uniform if possible!
  • To ensure we have enough seating, please fill out this form or inform the HES office by Monday, November 3rd if you are able to attend.
  • Additionally, we welcome photos of any service members who are unable to attend or photos in memory of loved ones who have served.  Please send photos to jreynolds@psharvard.org with the person's name and 'in memory of' if applicable.

With November rapidly approaching, we want to remind all families to sign up for conferences on either November 13 or November 20. Conferences are an important opportunity for families and teachers to connect about each child’s growth, celebrate progress, and discuss ways to support learning together.
  • Classroom teachers will, or already have, sent information about how to schedule conferences, either in person or on Zoom.
  • Our specialists will be available for drop-in conferences if you are in the building. If you prefer to meet with a specialist via Zoom, please email them directly to arrange a time.
  • As a reminder, conferences are for adults only. However, if your child will be accompanying you during in-person conferences, we will have some quiet activities available as you enter the building.

The PTO is doing a coffee refresh for staff during November! Click HERE to donate.

Celebrations Around the World Exhibit
Arm in Arm, in partnership with the Children’s Room in the Harvard Public Library, present the Celebrations Around the World exhibit. Every month from October through May, a holiday celebration from various parts of the world will be honored in the display case located between the holiday books in the Children’s Room. Exhibits will include information and artifacts highlighting cultural decor, apparel, food, and other items significant to the celebration. Community members are encouraged to participate in the exhibit by loaning the library personal items to be used in the display, perusing the various books about the celebration curated by the HPL, and enjoying a grab-n-go craft/activity provided by Arm in Arm. Want your Cultural Celebration on display? Have something to loan the HPL in support of a scheduled display? Please see Children’s Librarian or contact Arm in Arm at arminarm.townofharvard@gmail.com
