Dear HES Families,

Next week is Teacher Appreciation week! Along with the PTO, we have planned some fun and delicious ways to appreciate all our educators. We especially encourage families to show their appreciation with a note, drawing, or email. HERE are some printable templates for students of different ages. Feel free to give notes and drawings directly to educators or put them in a box in our front lobby. Want to help out? The PTO has put together a sign up genius for donations!

Save the date! The Harvard Public Schools Art Show will be on Wednesday, May 14, 5:30 - 7:30 pm at both schools. We welcome you to see the amazing artistic talent in this district! The Art Show organizers are looking for volunteers to help put the show up and take it down. If you are interested, check out this link for sign up information or scan the QR code below.

We have lucked out with the weather this week. Our students and staff have been enjoying the sunshine and warmth!

Have a great week!

Town Meeting May 3rd: Registration for Childcare Now Open

Parents, please mark your calendars for Town Meeting on May 3rd and be sure to register for childcare if you need it!

As always, Town Meeting is a time to come together and vote on a comprehensive set of items for our town. This year, a big item on the warrant is a proposed budget override. Watch the March School Committee Budget Hearing or view these slides to learn more about how the override impacts the schools. And see the town website for the full warrant and additional information.

Child Care is being generously provided for free by Harvard Public Schools teachers, administrators, and staff, alongside youth volunteers. Between noon and 4:00 pm, children who are potty trained and up are invited to come and play with other kids while their voting adults are attending Town Meeting.

Please use this link to submit a registration for each individual child.

Field Day will be on May 23 (rain date June 2). We still have volunteer spots available. Follow the link to sign up for the fun! Sign ups are due May 9. If you are volunteering, please make sure that your CORI form is up to date. If you are unsure of your CORI status email the front office at HESsbsence.org.

This year’s auction and raffle are 100% online --no in-person entries at the Soirée, so make your moves early! Tickets start at just $5, and everyone is welcome to join the fun—you do not need to be a PTO member or attend the Soirée to participate! https://go.rallyup.com/harvardptosoiree2025

Beginning April 1, we’re featuring And Then It’s Spring by Julie Fogliano and illustrated by Caldecott Medalist Erin E. Stead—a beautiful tale of patience, hope, and the promise of new beginnings. The Storybook Trail will be located on the Small Nature Trail, behind the Hildreth Elementary School. You can follow along as a young boy and his dog plant a garden, waiting for the brown of winter to turn into the green of spring. This story is perfect for all ages to enjoy while exploring the trail, enjoying the fresh air and experiencing the magic of the season.

  • Location: Small Nature Trail behind Hildreth Elementary School in Harvard
