Dear HES Families,
The HES SOUPer Bowl was a big success! Students earned points for either the Eagles or Chief by bringing in cans to donate and doing acts of kindness. Just like in New Orleans, the Eagles beat the Chiefs by quite a margin! All of the soup can will be donated to Loaves and Fishes this Friday.
Friday is Valentine's Day. Students are welcome, but certainly not required, to bring in valentines for classmates. Valentines may not contain food or candy. If your child does bring in valentines, please make sure they have one for each student in their class.
We wish you a wonderful vacation. We encourage everyone to read a lot and participate in the Readathon!

The 2025 HES PTO Readathon is next week! The Readathon will begin on February 14th and last until February 23rd. All minutes logged will then be collected and winners determined. Fun prizes may include a visit with Franny the Comfort Dog, a popsicle party, water bottle stickers, bookmarks, Little Bee Bookshop certificates, and more! Other prizes will be offered for fundraising leaders as well.
As in years past, Mrs. Quaadgras has generously created two new Bingo cards for the Readathon this year, one directed toward PK-2nd and another for 3rd through 5th graders. Also this year, we have HES parent Marietta Apollonio, who has graciously shared with us a time limited Read-a-Loud of her book Wombat and the Family Tree. This Read-a Loud will be available to view until the end of the Readathon. Be sure to check out this wonderful story and mark it on your log and Bingo Card. Thank you Marietta!!
All materials, including the overview and instructions, reading log and pledge forms, will be going home with your student this week. Be on the lookout! For more information please see the Readathon Webpage or direct specific inquiries to HESreads@gmail.com.
Happy Reading!
